200hr Ashtanga-Vinyasa Teacher Training Course

This course will give you thorough training in both the theory and practical aspects of Ashtanga & Vinyasa Yoga.

Whether you are just looking to further your practice or build up your Yoga teaching portfolio, this is for you!

Course objectives

  • Develop a deep understanding of the key concepts of Vinyasa Yoga and the body to ensure a proper and impactful practice
  • Gain a profound understanding of the various Vinyasa poses, sequences and Ashtanga Primary Series in order to execute them safely and effectively
  • Explore other practices like pranayama (breath work) beyond asanas to complement your Vinyasa Yoga practice in boosting your overall health
  • Master the art of conducting authentic, inclusive, inspiring and safe classes for your students of all ages, levels and body type
  • Connect with like-minded students and teachers to share and learn ways to grow as a practitioner, teacher and community

Prerequisites

Attended at least 10 Ashtanga or Vinyasa classes

Dates/Time: Progress at your own pace throughout the year!

Fees***: $3,399 (first 7 only), $4,099 (regular) – GST inclusive                           

Course structure

160 hours: 20 days x 8 hours of in-class

15 hours: physical in-studio shadowing of Jal Yoga classes by any Jal instructors

5 hours: Co-teaching with Basava or Pranava

20 hours: time-lapse of video recording of personal teaching       

Syllabus*

1. History and key concepts of Yoga

      • History and philosophical foundations of Yoga
      • Study of Upanishads, Panchakosha, Trigunas, Tridoshas & more
      • Discover & appreciate the relevance of Yoga to our lives today

2. Subtle anatomy

      • Key concepts and the uses of Prana, Chakras, Nadis, Panchakosha

3. Introduction to Vinyasa Yoga

      • History and philosophical foundations of Vinyasa practice
      • Key concepts of Vinyasa practice – the fundamentals; dos and don’ts; breath, mind and movement

4. Anatomy & Physiology

 

      • Study of the human body and its relevance in Vinyasa practice – body systems, skeletal & muscular system
      • In-depth study of the human movement and biomechanics and the role they play in ensuring a safe and injury-free practice

 

5. Principles of asanas

      • Advanced study of Vinyasa poses, sequences and Ashtanga Primary Series – the benefits, techniques, alignment and variations of Vinyasa poses with and without props
      • Common mistakes and how to avoid injuries

6. Pranayama, Meditation, Yogic Kriyas, Mudras & more

      • Study of these traditional Yoga practices that go beyond Asanas and how to use them for boosting our overall wellbeing

7. Effective class planning and teaching

      • Authentic & inclusive teaching of Vinyasa Yoga to inspire and empower people of different ages, fitness levels and body types to practise Vinyasa for better wellbeing
      • Effective teaching techniques (verbal cues, demonstration, etc…)
      • Impactful and creative sequencing & theming to meet your students’ various needs
      • The art of safe and effective assisting and adjusting
      • How to be a good teacher on and off the mats

Your instructors

Basava and Pranava graduated from Mangalore University, with a focus on Ashtanga practice and therapies.

With the recent rise in popularity of Yoga and the demand for challenging styles such as Ashtanga and Vinyasa, they have identified this opportunity to share their knowledge and practice so that practitioners can gain a deeper understanding of these styles beyond just asanas.

With combined teaching experience of over 5 years, these instructors will inspire and empower you to transform and grow while guiding you on your Ashtanga and Vinyasa journey.

Basava’s Qualifications:

  • 200hr Yoga Teacher Training Certificate
  • M.Sc in Yoga Therapy

Pranava’s Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Yoga, 2017
  • Certificate Course in Yoga Studies (CYS), 2015
