Course introduction

Our upcoming 35hr Wheel Yoga Teacher Training revolves around the following concepts: Access, Explore & Inspire.

During this journey, you’ll learn how to use the Yoga wheel to access advanced asanas, explore new ways to go deeper in your stretches and build strength as well as learn how to inspire those around you.

Course objectives

  • Develop a deep understanding of the key concepts of Wheel Yoga and the body to ensure a proper and impactful practice

     

  • Gain a profound understanding of the various Wheel Yoga poses and sequences in order to execute them safely and effectively by yourself and with your students
  • Master the art of conducting authentic, inclusive, inspiring and safe classes for your students of all ages, levels and body types

     

  • Connect with like-minded students and teacher to share and learn new ways to grow as a practitioner, teacher and community

Syllabus*

 1. Key concepts of Wheel Yoga

      • Key concepts of Wheel Yoga practice – the fundamentals like finding neutral posture, planes of motions; dos and don’ts; breath, mind and movement 

2. Anatomy and Physiology

      • Study of the human body and its relevance in Wheel Yoga practice – skeletal & muscular system, abdominal, spinal awareness
      • Study of the human movement and biomechanics and the role they play in ensuring a safe and injury-free practice

 

3. Wheel Yoga practice

      • In-depth study of Wheel Yoga poses (including Wall series & Sun Salutation) and sequences – the benefits, techniques, alignment and variations of Wheel Yoga poses with and without props
      • Practice for hip opening/stretching, balance & strength, core & more!
      • Common mistakes and how to avoid injuries

4. Effective class planning and teaching

      • Authentic & inclusive teaching of Wheel Yoga to inspire and empower people of different ages, fitness levels and body types to practise Wheel Yoga for better wellbeing
      • Effective teaching techniques (verbal cues, demonstration, etc…)
      • Impactful and creative sequencing & theming to meet your students’ various needs
      • The art of safe and effective assisting and adjusting
      • How to be a good teacher and on off the mats

Your instructor – Basava

Hailing from Gadag, Karnataka in India, Basava has been practicing Yoga for the past 7 years. His motivation to start stemmed from the lost of his beloved grandma to bronchial asthma. He learnt that Yoga could help people with this condition, and that it could have helped her as well.

He soon got the opportunity to practise it during his college days and it was also beneficial to him. Besides reading, Yoga became his other passion. To help others lead a healthy and peaceful life, he thus pursued a degree in yogic science.

Being in Singapore for the past three years, he hopes to help others better their lives and improve their well-being.

Qualifications:

  • M.Sc in Yogic Sciences
  • Certificate course in Yoga Studies (CYS)

Prerequisites

 – No pre-requisites but it would be good if you have some experience in Wheel Yoga

– The most important thing is that as long as you have the intention to grow personally and professionally, we will definitely enable you during this course

Fees***: $1,599 (first 5 only), $1,999 (regular) – GST inclusive
Fee includes training materials, assessments and certification   

Course structure

24 hours: 3 days x 8 hours of in-class

10 hours: physical in-studio shadowing of Jal Wheel Yoga classes by any Jal instructors

1 hour:
time-lapse of video recording of personal teaching or a report submission
