Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan® brings together different yogic tools that are combined almost systematically in every classes: posture (Asana), breathing (Pranayama), sound (Mantra), hand positions (Mudra), body locks (bandhs) and meditation. kirti will explain how those tools and techniques are required to ensure and re-establish proper energy flow within the body. She will then bring all the pieces together and guide you through a kriya (set of postures engineered for specific purpose) combined with breathing, chanting, and/or other tools to end up with a Meditation. The physical practice is a preparation for meditations (which can be active, using movements, mantras, or still and quiet). As we have hundreds of sets the format of each class can be very different whether we work on body functions, mind or emotions. But to get the full benefit of your class, active participation is not enough; otherwise it is just like gym…the key is the alert presence filled with devotion that you will bring in. This intention needs to be “plugged in” and that is why we begin classes with a mantra calling upon our individual highest self to bring us to a higher level of consciousness; you will learn to tune in with yourself, clear your emotional garbage and connect to the Infinite consciousness through the group consciousness.
