Jal Academy was founded with the aim to empower all levels of practitioners, regardless of age, gender and fitness background, to deepen their Yoga and Barre knowledge and practice.
Along the way, we hope to inspire and nurture them, through us as well as their peers, to join us in making a difference to the people around them and in the community with their learning and teaching.

We firmly believe that it’s never a one-size-fits-all approach. And this is why our courses are tailored accordingly, with each instructor sharing their own tips, thoughts and experience. We also believe that there will never be a “best” course created, which is why we continuously spend hours refining the courses’ curriculum and materials, ensuring they are up-to-date and meet trainees’ needs. We’ll also pass you the learning and teaching knowledge that aligns with our core belief on how to make Yoga & Barre accessible to everyone.
Introducing our new academy structure
From this year onwards, experience a more flexible academy structure for teacher training courses and learn at your own pace, according to your schedule.
In the event you miss any of the weekends, you can find the next available slot and do a make up session without any extra charge. Hence, completing the necessary hours to finish your course.
Our manuals are put together by our instructors, taking into consideration every previous course and trainee feedback. They are curated in a way that it’s easy to refer to them, even after the course ends.
Complementing the manual are our training slides. They are designed in a way for you to follow and learn in the most effective, efficient way.
More still, individual instructors will also provide you supplementary notes of their own, to help you better meet your course objectives.
Discussions are included throughout each course. These are opportunities to help you broaden your perspective to Yoga/Barre as a whole over and above the specific subject, the wellness industry and community landscape, Yoga teaching methods and how it can become your profession.
You’ll find yourself exposed to the different perspectives and experiences of trainees from various background, which would be helpful in your practice and teaching.
Upon graduation, you’ll have the opportunity to partake in our 20hr Internship Program.
10hr of the program is dedicated to Community Class teaching, where you’ll further your teaching experience.
You’ll also teach 10hr of regular Jal group classes – the first 5 will be observed by our instructor with feedback provided and the last 5 will be where you’ll lead the class independently.
During the course, you’ll be required to do shadow teaching for the relevant classes, where you can learn more sequences and teaching styles of different instructors here. During this, you’ll be inspired on how to conduct your own class and find your teaching voice.
As an observer, you’ll also be able to spot things to take note of when teaching a class, and perhaps uncover some insights on how to lead your class in a way you think best suit your future students.
Quizzes are introduced to help you evaluate your learning progress.
Final assessments are conducted to ensure you are equipped with the necessary theory and teaching abilities upon graduation.
